Bukan hanya kata kerja yang mempunyai bentuk regular dan irregular. Ternyata kata bendapun seperti itu. Di dalamnya terdapat kata benda baik yang beraturan maupun yang tidak beraturan. Apa itu kata benda beraturan dan tidak beraturan. Sederhananya begini, kata benda beraturan apabila diubah dari tunggal ke jamak, maka tinggal menambahkan akhiran -s atau -es. Contoh kata kerja beraturan misalnya, book – books, teacher – teachers, dan pencil – pencils.
Sementara itu, kata benda tak beraturan biasanya harus mengubah stuktur kata itu sendiri ketika ingin mengubah dari tunggal ke jamak. Misalnya foot – feet, dan alumnus – alumni.
